The NTUST EMI teaching team participated in off-site training at the National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University, from June 25th to 29th, 2024, focusing on training faculty in both English and STEM education. This initiative, supported by the Ministry of Education as part of the "Bilingual Education for Students in College program," included sharing bilingual promotion experiences and participating in international STEM education workshops and conferences.

Dr. Shao-Ting Hung, Executive Director of NTUST’s Office of Bilingual Education Initiatives, highlighted the increasing number of EMI-trained teachers since 2021. The focus now is on continuous professional development and integrating STEM characteristics into EMI teaching.

Outstanding EMI teachers from NTUST and other universities attended the "2024 International STEM Education Conference" and engaged in discussions on bilingual education strategies with administrative leaders from both Singapore and Taiwan. The workshops and seminars aimed to enhance teaching techniques, understand the latest STEM education trends, and promote international cooperation and faculty exchange.

Professor Yu-Ling Hsu from the College of Management emphasized the value of insights gained from international education experts, which will be applied to improve EMI course planning, design, and student evaluation in the upcoming semester.

NTUST's Office of Bilingual Education Initiatives and EMI Teaching Resource Center continue to receive positive feedback for their efforts in training EMI teachers, promoting cross-university teacher communities, and providing one-on-one consultations and classroom observations. They plan to further develop diverse EMI training programs to encourage ongoing professional growth among EMI teachers.
